Suspected Boko Haram Gunmen Kill Three People In Maiduguri
Residents of Zajiri ward of Maiduguri metropolis of Borno state, were thrown into “panic and fears”, as gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members attacked two houses in the area, killing three youth before their parents in the early hours of Friday.
The gunmen, according to eyewitness account walked on foot and started firing gunshots at the two houses in Zajiri ward, the same area 15 people were killed in Baga market attacks and bombings early this year.
The eyewitness account said: “when we started hearing the gunshots, all of us in the house were gripped with fears, as we have no any other place to flee and hide from the attackers. I heard some people in the next house crying wayo Allah, please help. They have come again to kill us this night, just hours before the Sallah celebration. I cannot tell you how many of our neighbours were killed last night, but I assure you that three boys living in the next house were killed by the gunmen, which I cannot tell whether they were Boko Haram or armed bandits.”
Confirming the incident yesterday in Maiduguri, the Borno state police command spokesman, Gideon Jibrin in a telephone chat said that, the police command received a report from the Area Police Commander of Ibrahim Taiwo Police Station, indicating that three people were killed in the Zajiri area of Baga road. He said no arrests were made in the serial attacks launched on the residents of Zajiri, adding that the gunmen that perpetrated the heinous crimes were suspected members of the Boko Haram that usually target policemen, soldiers, traditional and religious leaders in Borno state.
